BS Game Development

Game Development students and alumni competed at the Global HIT Challenge 2017 at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore last September 19, 2017 for their entries “Emergence,” an HIV Awareness App, and “Hear I See,” a mobile app to help dyslexic children. Our students went against teams from Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. “Hear I See” received the award Best [Capstone] Thesis under the Game Development Program during the recent iACADEMY Commencement Exercises. Emergence & Hear I See was part of the 3 teams that won at the Philippine HIT Challenge 2017 that was held last August 18,2017.

BS in Computer Science with Specialization in Software Engineering

Team ATE represented iACADEMY at Program the Future 2017, an AI software application-making contest by Accenture, and were among the Top 15 finalists. The app they created, “Artificial Traffic Enforcer System,” aims to manage real-time traffic situations by analyzing the volume of cars on roads and arranging the change of stoplights. It also uses image processing to detect accidents and traffic violators through object tracking and motion detection.

BS Animation

VLT Scholar, Joshua Villena, bagged the 1st Place and Popular Vote award at the ASEAN FEUture On-the-Spot Poster-Making Contest.

 

iACADEMY Junior Financial Executives of the Philippines (JFINEX)

iACADEMY’s Financial Management Organization JFINEX was nominated by the Junior Confederation of Finance Associations in the Philippines for the Out of the Box Category and Best Local Junior Finance Organization Category in the Junior Confederation of Finance Association Philippines Awards 2017.

The adobo Design Awards Asia gathers the most talented designers in the region to compete and be judged by a jury composed of some of the world's best designers.Some of our Multimedia Arts and Fashion Design students were among the chosen finalists for this year’s competition under the Open Category.

BS Game Development

Some of our Game Changers taking up BS Game Development were among the first batch of students in the Philippines to become Unity Certified Developers! They took the Unity Certification Examination this year guided by the Head of Unity Education Asia, Mr. Evan Spytma, and their class had a 95.5% passing rate.

Our BS Game Development students won the Public’s Choice Award at the 2016 ICT Creative Awards for their Virtual Reality Game, “Sky’s The Limit”.

John Andrew won 1st Place in the Shutterbug Mobile Photography Competition at Design Week Philippines held last October 15-23, 2016.

Rhem and Gian, also known as Team Rainslair, bagged the 1st Place Award at the Program the Future: Accenture Technology Campus Challenge 2016 under the Games Revolution Category.

BS Game Development

Game Development students Jhunel, Gian, and Karl, created an educational game called “Tuklas,” which got the top prize in the 2015 Salinlahi Evolution Game Development Competition. The competition was held by the National Academy of Science and Technology under the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology. The game was created in only 3 days and competed against 49 other entries.

BA Multimedia Arts and Design

The short film "Yapak" by BA Multimedia Arts and Design students Dwight Galang, Nicolai Maybituin, and Alfel Robles was screened at the Short Film Corner during the 69th Cannes Film Festival. It was also part of the Short Feature Program at the 28th CCP Independent Film and Video Festival last August 2016. The film explores the concept of immortality and legacy and is set in a fictional landscape that challenges how people view their purpose and self-worth.

 

Last year, some of our iACADEMY students produced the music video for “Patay Na Si Uto,” which was performed by Nyoy Volante for Himig Handog 2016. It was one of the Top 15 entries under the competition’s Best Music Video Category.

Jen and Krizia won the Ani ng Dangal Award for Cinema at the National Commission for Culture and Arts 2016 and Best Student Film Award at the International Film Fest Manhattan 2016 for their thesis film “Yolanda.” Their film competed against works by other filmmakers from USA, Australia, Philippines and Belarus.
