Ready for e-learning: iACADEMY gives free wifi, software licenses to students

The Makati-based iAcademy has partnered with Globe Telecom to provide its students with adequate tools to thrive in online classes.

Iacademy recently distributed free home prepaid wifi to its students and delivered them directly to their homes. Faculty members and staff who need internet connection were also given free wifi.

The school also coordinated with Adobe to give free licenses to students enrolled in a class that requires the use of the applications included in the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Students were also provided with Toon Boom and Autodesk Maya to be able to accomplish their respective assignments or projects while on quarantine.

Since April 15, iACADEMY has used alternative learning platforms that are accessible to both faculty and students such as Google Meet, Google Classroom, NEO LMS, among others. The online sessions also follow a flexible learning delivery which means they can be done synchronously or asynchronously. Learning materials were uploaded on Google Classroom so students can study them offline.

Vanessa Tanco, President and CEO of iACADEMY, said students are not forced to participate in online classes as these are voluntary and optional. The students were given the option to sign-up for online learning.

For students who signed up for online classes, online learning started on April 15 and will end on May 30. Classes will revert to face to face should ECQ be lifted before May 30, 2020 and the government allows schools to run face to face classes again.

Meanwhile, for students who did not sign up for online classes will have to wait on June 1 for the resumption of onsite classes if ECQ is lifted before June. Classes may start later if ECQ is not lifted by June 1, 2020.
