From Draft to Signature: OEMZ Batch FDT41 Unveils “KATSA” Graduation Showcase

A new generation of fashion designers is set to take the runway as OEMZ, the collective identity of graduating Batch of Fashion Design and Technology Students, launches its debut professional showcase, KATSA.
KATSA represents more than a culmination of academic requirements, it is a deliberate introduction of emerging designers to the global fashion stage. Rooted in the term “katsa,” or raw cotton used in drafting, the showcase reflects the journey from foundational learning to refined execution. For OEMZ, this moment signifies the transition of creative “drafts” into lasting professional “signatures.”
The showcase will present 75 meticulously crafted looks, each embodying the technical discipline and creative identity of the designers. The collection spans a wide spectrum of fashion expression, from avant-garde silhouettes that challenge conventional form, to contemporary streetwear grounded in urban functionality, and evening wear that highlights precision in draping and textile manipulation. While each piece stands as an individual statement, the full collection underscores the collective’s shared mastery in pattern making, construction, and design innovation.
“KATSA is not just a showcase, it is a declaration, it reflects iACADEMY’s students' readiness to move beyond structured learning and into the demands of the professional industry. This is where we present not only what we have learned, but what we are capable of contributing.” said by Irene Subang, iACADEMY’s OIC for Fashion Design and Technology
In an era defined by rapid production and fleeting trends, OEMZ positions itself in contrast, grounded in process, precision, and intentionality. KATSA becomes both a culmination and a starting point: a culmination of years of disciplined study, and a starting point for professional practice.
As OEMZ Batch FDT41 steps forward, the runway becomes more than a stage, it becomes a threshold. One that signals not just graduation, but arrival.
