iACADEMY Elevates Creative Education with New Sound Lab for Its 25th Year

May 29, 2026

As iACADEMY approaches its 25th Silver Anniversary, the institution reinforces its commitment to innovation with the unveiling of its newest facility, the Sound Lab. This marks the first in a series of strategic developments designed to enhance student learning and ensure that every Game Changer is equipped to meet global industry standards.

Built with a clear purpose, the Sound Lab recognizes sound as a critical element across creative disciplines. Designed to mirror professional production studios, the facility enables students to learn, create, and produce in an environment that is both industry-aligned and immersive.

The Sound Lab houses specialized spaces, including a control room, observation room, vocal room, instrument room, and foley room. Each room is equipped with professional-grade tools such as Avid Pro Tools software, an iMac M3 workstation, a Yamaha DM3S digital mixer,  Rode NT2-A condenser microphones, and KRK Rokit studio monitors all integrated into a 5.1.2 surround sound system. These features collectively provide a holistic production experience, from recording and mixing to sound design and post-production.

Rooms are also soundproofed and acoustically treated, ensuring precision, clarity, and professional-grade audio quality across all creative work. In the foley room, students are trained to craft realistic audio that brings film and media to life, strengthening their storytelling through sound.

For Carl Marius Uy, iACADEMY’s Program Coordinator for Music Production and Sound Design, the facility bridges ideas and execution. “This is where ideas become tangible,” he shared. “We wanted our students to experience the same level of precision, clarity, and creative freedom found in professional studios. The Sound Lab allows them to experiment, collaborate, and truly understand the power of sound in storytelling.”

Echoing this vision, Hamill Buyco, Dean of the School of Design and the Arts, emphasized the lab’s role in shaping future creatives. “At iACADEMY, we go beyond teaching technical skills. We build environments where creativity thrives and innovation is second nature. The Sound Lab is a testament to how we prepare our students, not just to enter the industry, but to lead and redefine it.”

Functioning as a new hub for production, the Sound Lab supports students from Film and Visual Effects, Multimedia Arts and Design, Animation, and most especially Music Production and Sound Design, positioning iACADEMY at the forefront of creative education.
