iACADEMY Animation Film “Buhi” Selected for Lift-Off Sessions in the United Kingdom

Buhi, a 2D paperless animated film by fourth-year Animation student Mary Anne Cahrop under Muni-Moonie Studio, has been selected for the Lift-Off Sessions in the United Kingdom.
The film follows a young villager coping with the aftermath of a traumatic experience and explores themes of healing, resilience, and self-discovery.
Lift-Off Sessions is an international platform that showcases independent films from emerging creators worldwide. The selection provides student filmmakers an opportunity to present their work to a global audience.
“International selections such as this demonstrate the quality of storytelling being produced by our students,” said Hamill Buyco, Dean of the School of Design and the Arts. “It reflects both artistic growth and the ability to connect with audiences beyond national borders.”
Monique Fandagani, Animation Program Coordinator, added that global exposure is invaluable for aspiring animators. “These opportunities allow students to gain insight into international standards while showcasing Filipino creativity on a broader stage.”
