iACADEMY Animation Film “Buhi” Earns Official Selection at Italy’s Duemila30 Film Festival

Buhi, a student-produced animated film from iACADEMY, has earned an Official Selection at the Duemila30 Film Festival in Milan, Italy.

Created by fourth-year Animation student Mary Anne Cahrop through Muni-Moonie Studio, the film presents a moving narrative about trauma, healing, and personal growth.

The Duemila30 Film Festival brings together emerging filmmakers from around the world and provides a platform for innovative storytelling across genres and formats.

“This recognition reflects the global potential of our students’ creative work,” said Hamill Buyco, Dean of the School of Design and the Arts. “It is encouraging to see Filipino student filmmakers gaining visibility in international festivals.”

According to Monique Fandagani, Animation Program Coordinator, festival selections serve as important milestones for aspiring professionals. “Being recognized internationally validates both the technical and narrative strengths of student productions.”

As iACADEMY continues to strengthen its Animation Program, achievements like this showcase the institution’s commitment to fostering storytellers capable of creating world-class content.
